  1. You say P&P and I come running! I have at least two copies of this, so I don’t expect to win, but I’ll spread the word!

  2. “If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

I would love the Annotated Pride and Prejudice! Even if I don’t win this contest, that book is going on my Amazon Wishlist.

  3. “On quitting the Cobb, they all went in-doors with their new friends, and found rooms so small as none but those who invite from the heart could think capable of accommodating so many.”
I just love this quote from Persuasion because it captures the hospitality of Captain and Mrs. Harville. I would find a place on my bookshelf for the annotated and expanded edition.

  4. Hello P&P :) I think I’d want the annotated one, if I were ever so lucky!

This quite just makes me laugh!

Mrs B: `Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion on my poor nerves.”

Mr. B: “You mistake me, my dear. I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends. I have heard you mention them with consideration these twenty years at least.”

  5. “Oh! Do not attack me with your watch. A watch is always too fast or too slow. I cannot be dictated to by a watch.”
    Jane Austen

Yes, there are not enough minutes in the hours to get done all the things I should get done each day! If I were to be so fortunate and win, I would love the first book, the beautiful hard bound one. My library has the cheap one from college!
    :)

  6. From Mansfield Park: “Nothing tires me, but doing what I do not like.” Spoken by Mary Crawford. (I don’t have access to the book just now to look it up, so this may not be exact.) I already have P & P, Jane Austen’s letters, and many more works, so I’ll let someone else win.

  7. Emily Reiter says:

Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure.

  8. I would love love either one. It would be a perfect read-aloud with my girls in a few more years.

  9. Can’t believe it’s the 200 anniversary of the publication; and yet every time I read this book it’s as if the feelings speak to the times.

  10. Can’t believe it’s the 200 anniversary of the publication; and yet every time I read this book it’s as if the feelings speak to the times.
Would love to find room for the hard bound copy.

  11. “But your FAMILY owe me nothing. Much as I respect them, I believe I thought only of YOU.” Mr Darcy, P&P.
    Love, love, love Jane Austin!
I would love the annotated and expanded edition :)

  12. Either one–I’m thinking Anna would love to read it one day. After me of course.

  13. My college-age daughter just discovered Jane Austin. Christmas holiday found her tucked into her first Jane Austin book and devouring it. What a lovely gift this would be for her. And this from the girl who almost never read for “enjoyment” in high school (she’s in college now). She was very focused on purchasing hard-bound versions of Jane Austin for her personal library. This would be perfect.

  14. Yet again, another GREAT giveaway- thanks Lauren. Would love a copy of the The Annotated Pride and Prejudice :)

    Happy celebration!

  15. Yes, I believe these would be passed around my house!! How fun!!!

  16. Hey Lauren! Maybe this is my chance! I have never read P & P, nor seen the movie, but think I may have several friendships hanging in the balance until I do!

  17. Oh, and I think I would like the the hard bound without the notations. (I almost missed this requirement!)

  18. Alexis Dobson says:

The annotated one looks neat! A cool way to reread the book!
