1. Theatre (yes, that’s how you spell it)
We’re doing the theatre thing again. Three of my four children will perform in the The King and I at The Theatre Company in Bryan, Texas. The girls are little Siamese princesses and Jonathan has a pretty major part, Louis Leonowens (Anna’s son). We’re very excited and I’m nervous. (Yes, I’ve had nightmares about him forgetting his lines and staring blankly over the heads of the audience.) He’s totally chill. Like he does this all the time. “Where did this child come from?” I say to myself. If you wanted to torture me, put me on stage and tell me to sing and dance. Seriously. But my kids love it, and I can’t of a better place for them to spend their time.
2. Clean Eating
I have a goal. I want lose 15 pounds by June 1st. There, I said it. So, now it will happen, right? There’s some magical power in stating something online, typing your desires on a keyboard and hitting “publish”. There’s no turning back. Now I’m obligated to pull this off for you.
But really, I think I can do this. With the help of a dear friend who just happens to be a fitness trainer, I’m trying to eat clean and low cal, and workout 4-5 times a week. We’ll see. Being on thyroid replacement medication does make health a bit more challenging, but I’ll do my best! :)
3. Book I’m Reading
My bookclub is reading Peace Like a River by Leif Enger. Such an enchanting story, and comes highly recommended by Leila over at Like Mother, Like Daughter. It’s part biblical allegory, western, crime novel and mystery. I’ve honestly never read anything like it. I highly recommend it!
Makes me go like this:
4. My friend Julia published a very thoughtful and compassionate article about Depression yesterday over at Austin Catholic New Media: “What To Say (and Not to Say) To Someone Who is Depressed”. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it. It is the first installment of a series, and by the the popularity of the post yesterday, I’d say this is a topic we need to talk more about.
I can’t eat any of this right now, as per #2 up there, but maybe YOU can! My friend Terri is The Pie Belle. The recently published several articles on pie. Yes. Pie. The best pie in the south. She’s gathered quite a following, as her recipes are sound and taste like heaven. Maybe something nice to make on a Sunday? Key Lime Pie. Cherry Yum Yum. And Irish Coffee Cupcakes. I have to move on to number 6 before I go raid the pantry… Why am I doing this to myself!?
6. Source for Great Children’s Books
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I LOVE the book selection from Bethlehem Books. “Books to stir the imagination. Historical fiction and biographies for all ages.” says their homepage. They offer printed as well as affordable e-books, some of which have been previously out of print. (I love people who resurrect old books!) If you follow their Facebook page, you’ll be kept up to day on their latest releases and some great sales that they offer regularly. And, no, they do not compensate me in any way for this. I actually have contacted them before to do a giveaway, but they weren’t interested. My piddly little blog… I know. Not very impressive. But I’m enthusiastic!!? Does that count? :) Anyway, check ’em out and go read something awesome!
I laughed so hard I cried:
